Adolescents’ Vulnerability to Fake News and to Racial Hoaxes: A Qualitative Analysis on Italian Sample

Following the Digital Revolution, we are witnessing an increase in number of manipulated sources information. For this reason, virtual environments can be a breeding ground for proliferation prejudices and stereotypes, resulting from spread racial fallacious news, known as ‘racial hoaxes’. Adolescents may more susceptible due to tense complicated relationship between their experience with digital platforms development relatively limited critical thinking. In landscape, order explore features disinformation adolescence, research involved 41 Italian adolescents 13 16 years old, balanced by gender school education. The teenagers took part focus group discussions on topic online information preferences, fake news hoaxes, which were analyzed means content analysis. answers given participants show so-called adolescents’ perception ‘misinformation invulnerability’ that influence credulity since they aware but not so able recognize or remember it.
